The Opportunity:
Newcastle Anglican have an exciting opportunity for a professional Business Partner to join the Risk & Compliance team. You will be responsible for supporting the establishment and management of a robust compliance framework across Newcastle Anglican Corporation. You will also develop, implement and continuously improve the risk management framework as well as policies and procedures across the organisation.
The successful applicant will manage insurance claims. Liaising with brokers and insurers, you will maintain records, ensure compliance with delegation limits and manage general insurance administration including certificates of currency and risk documentation.
This is a full time permanent vacancy.

What are we looking for?
- Design and implement compliance management processes to ensure alignment with Newcastle Anglican’s unique operational and regulatory environment.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of controls to ensure legislative compliance and mitigate risks.
- Identify and document relevant compliance obligations, using a risk-based approach to prioritise high-risk obligations critical to Newcastle Anglican’s operations.
- Identify, assess, and recommend key controls to mitigate compliance risks across the organisation, developing strategies to address potential compliance gaps proactively.
- Conduct regular compliance reviews and audits, providing independent assurance of compliance practices and recommending corrective actions for non-compliance.
- Progress Newcastle Anglican’s risk maturity through ongoing reviews and updates of Risk Registers, and the risk management framework.
- Conduct regular risk assessments across Newcastle Anglican’s operational and strategic areas, identifying, analysing, and evaluating potential risks, including process, system, and human-related risks.
- Design and support the implementation of risk mitigation strategies and controls, continuously monitoring their effectiveness and making or recommending necessary adjustments.
- Work collaboratively with operational areas to conduct risk assessments, identifying compliance risks and vulnerabilities.
- Promote a risk-aware culture by partnering with leaders to champion proactive risk management practices at all levels, supporting the development of a healthy risk culture across the organisation.
- Administer and process insurance claims below the deductible; refer claims above the deductible to brokers and insurers.
- Maintain the claims register and ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Review claim forms, policy wordings, invoices, and payments for compliance.
- Maintain and update policy documentation, including policy wordings and certificates of currency.
- Obtain approvals for claims from the Director of Risk & Safety and escalate matters to senior management or brokers as needed.
- Communicate with impacted parties to ensure clarity around claims processes and expected timelines.
- Liaise with brokers and insurers to obtain updates and clarify claims issues.
- Provide certificates of currency in response to internal and external requests.
- Respond to insurance-related inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Promote the use of the incident management system for documenting hazards, incidents, and risk assessments.
- Support the Quality, Risk and Safety team with ad hoc administrative and coordination tasks as required.
About you?
- Tertiary qualification in Law, Business, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a risk management, compliance, audit, or consulting role.
- Experience in Aged Care, NDIS, Child Youth and Family.
- Proven experience in compliance management, risk management and insurance, within the not-for-profit sector.
- In depth knowledge of regulatory requirements, compliance frameworks, and governance best practices across Aged Care, NDIS, Family and Community Services, Schools and Corporate Shared Services.
- Excellent analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to interpret regulations and provide practical compliance solutions, with the ability to handle complex compliance requirements.
- Strong communication skills, capable of building a compliance-focused culture across all organisational levels.
- Experience working across several services with multiple key stakeholders in a business partnering role.
- Proven experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining compliance frameworks, including managing compliance obligations and regulatory audits.
- Demonstrated ability to build a compliance culture through training and leadership.
- Direct experience engaging with regulatory bodies, managing audits, and addressing compliance breaches.
- Professional, a fast learner, and committed to getting the job done to an exceptionally high standard every time.
