Maintenance Officer

- 8:00am- 4:00pm
- $62,308 per year
About the role:
Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College is looking a Maintenance Officer to undertake maintenance duties, including but not limited to repairs, painting, minor construction and alteration works, gardening and grounds works, and general handyman duties. They are responsible for all equipment and premises being maintained in a safe and sound condition and all duties carried out by the team are done so in a professional manner.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Gardening tasks- planting, pruning, fertilising, watering, mulching and weeding of garden areas
- Regular sweeping, rubbish removal, blower vacuuming and/or hosing
- Minor repairs of equipment and furniture, painting, moving items of furniture and classroom supplies
- Daily security routines (this may include unlocking gates for entry and securing of site at end of day)
- Maintaining a safe environment for all students, staff and visitors
- Assisting with the set-up of events and functions

Qualifications & experience
- Minimum of 3 years maintenance experience
- White Card essential
- Experience driving a LR bus
- Demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively in a team environment, including high level oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated capacity to provide advice and support to management and other school staff in respect to work area
- High attention to detail
- Experience working outdoors
- Experience in working in a confined space
- Working at heights
- Knowledge and understanding of safety requirements and regulations
- Demonstrated experience in cleaning and maintenance
- Demonstrated capability and capacity to perform the physical and technical tasks and duties specific to the role
- NSW Working with Children Check.
- National Criminal History Check (Newcastle Anglican will consider the relevance of any reported outcomes).
- Applicants will be screened for appropriate child protection purposes as we are a Child Safe School.
- Qualifications in Safety, Horticulture, Maintenance or Cleaning
