About the role: 

Work in a passionate multi-disciplinary team, providing intake, assessment, brief interventions, and referrals to support youth mental health. You’ll also engage in community awareness activities and build strong service partnership.

• Passionate about youth mental health
• Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration

• Understanding and experience using clinical resources and community service networks
• Experience in psychological practice in Child, Adolescent and Family clinical services
• Well-developed knowledge of diverse cultures and community needs

Essential Criteria 

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Nursing, Counselling, Psychotherapy or another approved clinical or therapeutic discipline.
• Relevant professional registration or membership applicable to discipline.
• Clinicians may include:
• • Social Workers who have completed an approved undergraduate or master’s degree in Social Work and are eligible for, or hold, membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers.
  • Occupational Therapists who have completed an approved undergraduate or master’s degree in Occupational Therapy and hold current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • Psychologists who hold full and current general registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • Provisional Psychologists who hold current provisional registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and work within approved supervision requirements and scope of practice.
  • Division 1 Registered Nurses who hold current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and have relevant mental health experience.
  • Counsellors or Psychotherapists whose skills, training and experience are equivalent to the requirements outlined within the Australian Counselling Association Scope of Practice Guidelines at a minimum Level 3 or above and who are registered with the relevant professional membership body, such as the Australian Counselling Association, Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia or equivalent.
  • For counselling-qualified clinicians, PACFA Clinical Registration, ACA Level 3 or above, or equivalent recognised professional membership is required.
• Current driver’s licence and access to a registered, comprehensively insured vehicle.
• Australian work rights.
• The successful applicant will possess or willingness to obtain the following: NSW Working with Children Check, First aid & CPR certificate, and undertake a pre-employment functional medical.

Essential Experience

• Minimum 2 years’ mental health, counselling, therapeutic or related clinical experience.
• Demonstrated experience providing counselling, brief intervention, therapeutic support and care coordination within professional scope of practice.
• Demonstrated experience supporting young people’s mental health and wellbeing, including working with families, carers and support networks where appropriate.
• Demonstrated ability to work holistically with young people experiencing mental health concerns, evolving and intersecting needs, alcohol and other drug concerns, trauma, family-related issues and/or service access barriers.
• Demonstrated skills and understanding of mental health assessment, risk identification, referral, care coordination and supported transition.
• Demonstrated ability to provide or support basic alcohol and other drug screening, assessment, brief intervention, harm minimisation support and referral within professional scope of practice.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with young people, families, carers and support people who are at risk of developing or experiencing significant mental health concerns.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, including in a regional service environment.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with government, community, health, education and other service providers.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records, complete data entry and use computer systems for case documentation, reporting and information management.
• Demonstrated understanding of privacy, consent, confidentiality, mandatory reporting, professional boundaries and child safe practice.
• Demonstrated capacity to practise in a developmentally appropriate, family-inclusive, culturally safe and trauma-informed way.
